SENIOR PASTOR KENNETH THOMAS AND FIRST LADY MARQUINET THOMAS
Pastor Kenneth Thomas has led Mount Olive as Senior Pastor since 2022. He is also Presiding Elder of the Northwest District of the West Tennessee Region of the CME Church. Under his leadership and with the support of his wife, First Lady Dr. Marquinet Thomas, Mount Olive is committed to following the teachings of Jesus Christ while embracing innovation and growth. With his support, the church is leveraging technology, enhancing operational excellence, and building the capacity to move the church forward. Through expanded outreach, leadership development, and deeper opportunities for fellowship, he is dedicated to Mt. Olive making a lasting impact on the 38126 community, one of the most underserved zip codes in the nation. Standing in solidarity with faith-leaders seeking equity in our nation, he has welcomed pastors and civil rights leaders from across the country as champions working to address social justice issues, health and wellness disparities, and the increase in violent crime.
MISSIONARY SOCIETY
The Missionary Society is dedicated to outreach and service, both within the church and in the broader community. They organize and lead initiatives that provide support to those in need, such as food drives, clothing donations, and other charitable activities. Their mission is to spread the love of Christ through acts of service.
STEWARD BOARD
The Steward Board is responsible for the financial and administrative management of the church. This includes overseeing the church’s budget, managing funds, and ensuring that the church’s financial obligations are met. Stewards also assist the pastor in spiritual and pastoral care for the congregation.
TRUSTEE BOARD
The Trustee Board is tasked with the care and maintenance of the church’s property and assets. This includes managing the physical church building, ensuring that repairs and renovations are completed, and overseeing any legal matters related to church property. Trustees work to safeguard the church’s resources for future generations.
USHER BOARD
The Usher Board plays a vital role in maintaining order and hospitality during worship services. Ushers greet and assist congregants, manage seating, distribute programs, and help collect offerings. They are the first point of contact for many and contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere.
BOARD OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
The Board of Christian Education oversees the church’s educational programs, including Sunday School. They ensure that both youth and adults have access to sound biblical teaching and opportunities for spiritual growth. Sunday School classes, which start at 9:00 AM on Sundays, are a key component of their work, offering age-appropriate lessons that deepen faith and understanding.
MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS MINISTRY
The Media and Communications Ministry oversees digital media for the church. This includes managing the outdoor signage and creating engaging graphics and messages displayed during services. They handle sound and other technical elements that enhance the worship experience. Additionally, they manage the church’s social media platforms, including live streams, allowing members and visitors to participate in worship even when they cannot attend in person.
CONNECTIONAL YOUTH MINISTRY (CYM)
Lead by the Board of Christian Education, the Connectional Youth Ministry (CYM) cultivates the next generation of spiritual and faith leaders by providing educational and fun activities for youth ages 12 – 17. The program is designed to:
• Reveal the life-changing power of a relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Equip youth workers with the resources to build effective ministries.
• Advocate for the spiritual, social and political needs of young people.
• Communicate the gospel in a culturally relevant manner, allowing.
• Healing for young people, their families and their communities.
MUSIC MINISTRY
The Music Ministry includes the church musicians and choir who lead the congregation in worship through music. They select and perform a wide array of gospel music including contemporary, traditional, anthems and spirituals – all done to raise a joyful noise in praise.
MADONNA GUILD
The Madonna Guild is a group of women church members who are committed to service projects that support the church. They organize events, fundraisers, and host various initiatives that contribute to the church’s mission and upkeep. Their work helps foster community and supports church operations.
COLLEGE MINISTRY
The College Ministry is dedicated to helping young people succeed in their education and maintain a strong connection to their faith and church community during their college years.
They provide annual scholarships to help lessen the financial burden of college. In addition, they stay in touch with college students, offering encouragement, guidance, and spiritual support throughout their academic journey.
